For students taking AP courses during the 2026–27 academic year, keeping track of deadlines is as important as preparing for the exams themselves. The AP calendar includes important dates for joining class sections, exam registration, testing accommodations, digital portfolio submissions, AP Exams, score cancellation and sending scores to colleges.
College Board's official 2026–27 AP calendar provides a timeline that students, parents and schools can use to plan the year. Here are the key dates to keep in mind.
Summer and Early Fall 2026: Set Up Your AP Year
If you are taking an AP course during the 2026–27 academic year, start by making sure you have a College Board account. Students use this account to join their AP class sections and access AP Classroom resources.
In early fall, your AP teacher will provide a join code for your class section. Students should use it to join the correct section in My AP.
Fall is also the right time to begin the testing accommodations process if you need one. Students who may require accommodations should contact their school's SSD coordinator. College Board lists January 22, 2027, as the deadline for SSD coordinators to submit accommodation requests for the 2027 AP Exams.
AP Exam Ordering and School Registration Deadlines
AP exam registration is handled through schools and AP coordinators, so students should not assume there is one universal student registration deadline.
For the 2026–27 cycle, College Board lists October 2, 2026, as the preferred ordering deadline for schools. The final ordering deadline for full-year and fall-semester courses is November 13, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Students should therefore speak to their AP coordinator well before November rather than waiting for the final date.
For courses that begin after November 13, including certain spring-semester courses, the ordering deadline is March 12, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
January to April 2027: Prepare for the Exams
From January through May, students should continue using AP Classroom resources and completing assignments provided by their teachers.
Beginning in January 2027, students in the six AP World Language and Culture courses can access their Course Project Packet through the AP Digital Portfolio.
April brings several important digital submission deadlines. On April 30, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. ET, AP World Languages and Cultures Personalized Project References, AP Computer Science Principles Create performance tasks, AP Research performance tasks and AP Seminar performance tasks are due in the AP Digital Portfolio.
Students should also use April to review exam formats and, where applicable, practise in Bluebook before exam day.
AP Exam Dates 2027
The main 2027 AP Exams will be administered over two weeks: May 3–7 and May 10–14.
The exact date depends on the subject. For example, AP Microeconomics is scheduled for May 4, AP English Literature and Composition for May 5, AP Calculus AB and BC for May 10, AP Statistics for May 11 and AP Psychology for May 14.
Students should check the official subject-by-subject schedule and follow their AP coordinator's instructions about where and when to report.
There are also changes to exam start times in some locations for 2027. Most schools in the lower 48 United States, Hawaii and Washington, D.C., continue to use 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. local start times, while certain locations have different times.
AP Digital Portfolio Deadlines
Students taking AP Art and Design have a separate portfolio deadline. The final College Board deadline is May 7, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. ET. However, schools and teachers may establish earlier internal deadlines.
This is important because students should not wait until the College Board deadline if their school has requested earlier submission.
What Happens After the AP Exams?
Once exams are over, there are still a few dates to remember.
June 15, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. ET is the deadline for the College Board to receive a score-cancellation request if the student wants to prevent that score from being sent to the institution selected through the free score-send option. AP scores can otherwise be cancelled later, although cancellation is permanent.
June 20, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. ET is the deadline to choose the college, university or scholarship programme that will receive the student's one free AP score report for that year.
AP scores will be released in July 2027. Students can access them through their College Board accounts.

How Students Can Stay on Track
The easiest way to manage the AP calendar is to create one academic calendar containing school deadlines as well as College Board dates. Add your exam dates, portfolio submissions, testing accommodation deadlines and score-related dates at the beginning of the year.
Most importantly, remember that some dates are College Board deadlines while your school may set an earlier internal deadline. Your AP coordinator should therefore remain your first point of reference for registration and exam-day arrangements.
